FAQ: FAQ

Who can come?

The purpose behind the Decatur Formal is an opportunity for students who are schooling at home to have a dance of their own. However, if your date, friend, sibling or whomever is coming isn’t homeschooled but wants a fun dance to attend, they’re welcome too! Each person attending simply needs a ticket.

What ages are teens?

13-19 are considered teenagers. Younger siblings are not invited this time. This is for teens to have an opportunity for a formal. Younger than 13 may come if already in middle school. It is advised that middle schoolers come with a friend or sibling, or a parent who is willing to chaperone. Chaperones can sign up through sending an email or Facebook message to Wendy Stevens, organizer.

What about parents?

This is an event for students. If you would like to chaperone the event, please send an email to wendyostevens75@gmail.com. Any parent attending will be assigned a task so that students can be their age and have fun. There are opportunities to help with clean up, refreshments, admission, music, photographer assistant, etc.)

I have more questions. Who can I talk to?

Wendy Stevens is the contact parent organizing the event, along with other moms! You can send an email to wendyostevens75@gmail.com to contact directly. If you're wanting to help, send a message!

How do I get copies of the pictures?

After the event, pictures  will be uploaded to the page and available for you to download.

What does the ticket cover?

Hosting a dance isn't easy, or cheap. The cost of a website, advertising, decorations, photographer, insurance, etc. all add up quick! We have every intention of continuing to have fun events again in the fall, and hope that in time we can reduce the price as costs are offset. We appreciate the support as we go!

Information about the Formal

FAQ: FAQ

How do I get tickets?

Tickets are are available for purchase on the ticket page. If you want to pay by cash or another option to avoid online fees, please email wendyostevens75@gmail.com for details on this option.

Do I need a date?

Tickets are purchased individually. Come with a date, a friend, a group of friends, siblings, or on your own! We just want to see you there.

How should I dress?

We aren’t the fashion police. Part of homeschooling is the ability to be who you are. That said, clothing should be appropriate for a public event for youth. Formal attire is encouraged, but not required. Ladies, stay modest and beautiful. Gentlemen, keep it classy.
